Location Service Terms

Last updated: 13 August 2026

1. Provider

Tobias Haselbusch, Pützchensweg 32a, 53227 Bonn, Germany, tobias@haselbusch.com

2. What the app uses your location for

CamperPilot uses the vehicle's last known position for three purposes: finding overnight locations and ferries near you, centring the map view, and — if you select it — as the "Current position" starting point in trip planning.

3. Where processing takes place

Location processing happens exclusively inside the vehicle. Your position is not transmitted to our servers and is not stored; no movement profiles are created. The only indirect disclosure is technical: when map tiles are loaded, the map providers (CARTO, with OpenStreetMap as fallback) receive the coordinates of the displayed map sections, from which the approximate region being viewed can be inferred. Details are set out in the Privacy Policy.

4. Permission and revocation

The app requests location access through the vehicle system's permission dialog. You can revoke the permission at any time in the vehicle's settings. Without permission the app remains usable; it then works with a coarse approximation (centre of Germany) until a position becomes available. Nearby results will be correspondingly imprecise in that case.

5. Accuracy and responsibility

Location data, distances, range and arrival calculations are planning aids without any guarantee of accuracy, completeness or availability. CamperPilot is not a navigation system: guidance is provided by the vehicle's built-in navigation. Actual traffic conditions, signage and road traffic regulations always take precedence. Do not operate the app while driving unless the vehicle display expressly permits it.

6. Changes

We will update these terms when the app or the legal situation changes. The version published here applies.
